I recently received this note from a former student.
A few years ago I was privileged to sit at the feet of the drum master Don Worth, where I learned a very few basics of the art and science of drumming.
On a couple of occasions while I was practicing, my young granddaughter heard me and expressed an interest.
I showed her a few of the lessons you gave me.
More time went by, and she moved with her family to California.
Unbeknownst to me, she took those lessons of yours with her and continued to “bang away” on her own… until her parents realized she really enjoyed drumming.
Now at 9 years old, Layla is an accomplished student of the art and is looking forward to a career in music.
I just wanted you to know how far- reaching your love of the drums has affected one little girl.
